Waterloo Banking Project is establishing student-run financial services for university students in Waterloo. We will provide retail banking services to help students graduate with more money, less debt, and better financial skills.

Our purposes are to:

  • Offer financial services that better meet students’ needs;
  • Provide amazing work experience for student staff;
  • And run educational programs to increase financial literacy and money management skills.

We intend to partner with an existing financial institution to establish the infrastructure to deliver financial services, offer benevolent investments to raise operating capital and manage a unpaid student staff to provide cost-effective operations.

Budgeting is about spending in a planned and responsible way so that you can have control over your finances. Rather than worrying about money, let money empower your life. If you are interested in getting started, here is a basic budgeting template. Remember, you can’t create the “perfect” budget right away.  Similar to a diet or work-out routine, budgeting takes persistence and constant refinement but it's well worth the effort.
